Study outlining IP Network options for the Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit
Authority (MARTA) Voice and Data Network. This includes development and
selection of a new network architecture, voice switch, customer and staff end
instruments and operational processes for 53 Atlanta locations. ·
Design of an Enterprise-Wide
SIP based Voice over IP (VoIP) Telecommunication Network for MARTA. This
includes 38 of the 53 locations identified in the study phase. Also included
are wayside telephones and required gateways required to support emergency
trip stations along the rail line. Project Responsibilities include
Specification and Design Drawing preparation. ·
Provide design of integrated
systems required to support the expansion of an operational Transit Station
in the Buckhead area of Atlanta. This integrated design includes Closed
Circuit Television (CCTV), Telephone, Public Address (PA), Visual Public
Address Systems (VPAS) and Supervisory
Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems. This
project was completed on schedule, within budget. Presently providing
Design Support during Construction (DSDC) for this effort. ·
Designed and implemented an
IP based CCTV add-on to provide increased surveillance for MARTA properties
at 38 Transit Stations throughout Atlanta. This system uses Bosch fixed
cameras and is interconnected to the Police Communications Center using
Brocade IP switches and a centralized Genetec Video Management System.
The system is powered using IEEE 802.3af Power over Ethernet (PoE). PROFESSIONAL ENGINEER (2004-2007): Contractor providing the following
products and services: BellSouth / AT&T (2005-2007): ·
Provided coordination between
Development, Systems Engineering and the Customer in providing fully tested,
defect free software products to the field. ·
Developed and executed QA
testing for the Cramer 5.0 Network Inventory System to be used with the
BellSouth integrated IPOSS system. This system maintains a synchronized
inventory of BellSouth managed core, edge and Customer managed routers,
switches and servers. Testing included new customized feature and
regression testing. ·
Successfully developed
testing and Customer acceptance for an end-to-end IPOSS system including
Order and Workflow Management, Trouble Ticketing, Network Element Activation
and Network Inventory Systems. ·
Developed and executed
testing for an Integrated Trouble Management system that incorporates an IBM
MQ Communication Bus between the Remedy Trouble Ticketing System and
Micromuse Netcool Alarm System. All regression testing was automated
using HP/Mercury Quick Test Pro software. This included generating Visual
Basic Script for 93 automated tests. Verso Technologies, Inc.
(2004-2005): ·
Design and implementation of
an interoperability lab and process to test Verso products with other
vendors. This involved Clarent VoIP class 4 / class 5 switches, gateways and
applications. Provided coordination between Marketing, Sales and
vendors in generating applicable end-to-end test strategies for each product. ·
Developed test plans to test
vendor products to the lab involving SIP, H.323, and MGCP protocols. NEWSOUTH COMMUNICATIONS (2001-2004): Vice
President and acting Regional Director of Network Operations with the
following responsibilities: ·
Network Operations for 39 markets in the Southeast region
including switch nodes in 13 major cities. This included installation and
repair of all network installations including Lucent 5ESS switch hardware,
Alcatel core DACS hardware, Cisco multi-service switch hardware and Cisco
gateway routers. CPE included Adtran and Cisco routers ·
Developed automated reporting of Key Performance
Indicators (KPI) for all markets using Crystal Reports in conjunction with
Telecom Business Solutions (TBS) database information. I was
responsible for the management of 138 personnel including Managers and Field
Technicians and a $14.8M 2003 Network Operations SG&A budget. EDGE CONNECTIONS (2000-2001): Vice
President of Engineering with the following accomplishments and
responsibilities: ·
Creation and development of an Engineering Team. Also
responsible for the network design and implementation to provide DSL voice
and data services in 4 markets. Hardware deployment in the first year
included 160 buildings. ·
Evaluation and selection of hardware to be used in the
Edge Connections Network including Cisco multi-service switches, Cisco
routers and Jetstream voice gateways. Building and CPE equipment consisted
of AccessLan and RC Networks DSLAMs with Polycom IADs. I also created and
managed a $4.5M capital budget for year 2000. ICG COMMUNICATIONS (1997-2000): Sr. Director of Engineering & Operations,
Southeast Region with the following responsibilities: ·
Designed and built a 42 mile SONET based fiber CLEC
network in the Atlanta metropolitan area including facility design, inside
plant engineering and construction for 2 ICG offices and 6 Bellsouth
collocations. ·
Created and managed a $40.7M capital budget for 1998
programs in ICG’s Southeast Region. ·
Provided expert testimony on the stand to 7 Public Service
Commissions in the BellSouth region during ICG reciprocal compensation
